Hey there…it’s Laura! For the past couple of weeks, I have been receiving my wedding video and pictures. So OF COURSE I couldn’t help but share some of my favorites with you all and talk about the wedding! It truly was the best day of my life. I married my very best friend, and while it is not always easy, it has been everything I could ever want.
First things first, a little background of myself and the wedding. Cody and I have been dating for almost 5 years. We met when we were 16 working at Dairy Queen, started dating in 2012, and got married on October 1, 2016 at a barn venue in Palmyra, Indiana. That venue was the PERFECT place for us. He grew up in Palmyra and I grew up in Greenville and little did we know that the venue was located right in the middle of our two childhood homes.
That morning I was so nervous. That was probably the only day in the whole wedding process that I was a bridezilla! I remember waiting for our family and bridal party to start the procession and I was watching patiently out the door until it was my turn. I don’t think I have ever been so nervous in my life. So nervous in fact that on the long walk down, I took one deep breath and POP went the hook and eye of my wedding gown. It was such a blur and I can barely remember the harpist playing “My Heart Will Go On” by Celine Dion (I have an obsession with Titanic, but that is a conversation for another day). But as soon as I saw Cody and how handsome he looked as he shed tears of happiness, my nerves completely went away. I was ready to marry him. After beautiful vows and rings were exchanged, we kissed and I was a Bottorff (a name I am still getting used to LOL)
Once it was time for the reception, we couldn’t stop smiling. We took our first dance as husband and wife to the song “From the Ground Up” by Dan and Shay. I danced with my dad, he danced with his mom, we tossed the bouquet and the garter, and partied the night away! It was such an amazing day and it feels like it only lasted an hour. I love looking back at these pictures and reliving that day over and over. That was definitely the best day of my life!
